How Important is labeling to you and how
accurate do you think it is?
In
my honest opinion, some labeling is helpful; some labels are unhelpful; some
are misleading, however, what is important is what you are and what you like.
Labels
are just a way of trying to concisely communicate that, however, I do not feel
that labeling is the "end-all-to-be-all".
I suspect labeling is only accurate if
everyone agrees on the definition.
Obviously,
social media is just one example where we do not all agree.
I
do like one label though, which is highly universal, in its scope, I am ME!
From
a personal standpoint, I would rather prefer the terms identifying or
identification, as opposed to labels or labeling.
Let's
use a submissive woman as an acting example.
Submission
is likely very strong within her core, regardless of seemingly acts of
submission that get labeled as what submission is suppose to look and feel
like.
A
submissive woman on her knees sucking her Dominant's penis is not a definition
of submission per se.
It
is just a submissive woman on her knees sucking her Dominant's penis.
The
act, in of itself, do not necessarily denote the label.
A
label, in of itself, per se; is not the "end-all-to-be-all".
Labels
are sometimes misleading.
Labels
also box us in, and sometimes would have some people think they should act or
be a certain way to fit the label. There are expectations in labels that people
can not live up to sometimes.
Labels
also sometimes give people a false sense of courage.
These
and many other reasons are the negative connotations attributed to labels or
labeling of ourselves and/or others.
This
is why I would I agree with a common framework where identification may be
concerned, as long as it is devoid of rigidity or inflexibility.
